) Wednesday announced the creation of Avnet MarketSite, a new service designed to help Avnet customers who wish to buy or sell electronic components over B2B (Business to Business) Refers to one business communicating with or selling to another. See B2B e-commerce, B2C and B2G.

MarketSite is a Web site that acts as a portal, or gateway, to exchanges on the Internet. The service is provided as another reason for customers to view Avnet as their full-service supply-chain partner. Through www.marketsite.avnet.com, customers will gain access to supported B2B exchanges with a single sign-on An identification system that lets users log into multiple Web sites on the Internet with one username and password. Single sign-on systems are also used within an enterprise, enabling users to access all authorized resources in the local network using the same username and password.  and password.

Exchanges are Web sites where buyers and sellers trade directly with each other. Today, there are several electronic component-focused exchanges on the Internet that may represent a viable alternative to spot buying on the gray market.
