electronic component distributor Avnet Kent announced the creation of a new product business unit that will focus exclusively on Defense/Mil-Aero and Hi-Reliability products.

"There is significant growth predicted in this market segment over the next 3 to 5 years that is very exciting. We are positioning ourselves to take advantage of this opportunity with our premier Defense/Mil-Aero and Hi-Reliability product and service offering," said Tom McCartney, president of Avnet Kent.

Currently, Avnet Kent's Defense/Mil-Aero and Hi-Reliability customers are serviced by the same sales and product support teams that handle the commercial market. This new business unit, however, will include both field sales and product support resources that will be exclusively focused on Defense/Mil-Aero and Hi-Reliability IP&E products and customers.

Working closely with Avnet's Cilicon division, which specializes in the distribution of semiconductors, this new business unit will offer customers an additional expert to help solve their design and fulfillment ful·fill also ful·fil
