Avnet Electronics Marketing Strengthens Global Executive Leadership Team; Ravi Kichloo and Tim Barber Promoted to Support Semiconductor Business Development Worldwide.

PHOENIX -- Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet Inc. (NYSE:AVT), today announced an expansion of its global executive leadership team, with the addition of Ravi Ravi (rä`vē), one of the five rivers of the Punjab, 475 mi (764 km) long, rising in the Himalayas, NW India, and flowing generally W into Pakistan, past Lahore, to join the Chenab River, NE Pakistan. Kichloo, senior vice president of semiconductor business development, worldwide, and Tim Barber, vice president of Xilinx business development, worldwide. Both will have global responsibilities and report directly to Harley Feldberg Feldberg: see Black Forest., president, Avnet Electronics Marketing worldwide. Kichloo will manage Avnet Electronics Marketing's semiconductor supplier relationships, and Barber will focus specifically on Xilinx business development. The addition of Kichloo and Barber to this team provides dedicated executive resources that semiconductor suppliers and customers can leverage to help profitably and efficiently grow their businesses.

In his new role, Kichloo will relocate from Singapore to Avnet's corporate headquarters in Phoenix, where he will develop semiconductor supplier management best practices to be used cross-regionally. His efforts will span both the design and supply chain, and Kichloo will assist regions in developing tailored strategies and business plans for supplier growth. Kichloo is also chartered with linking Avnet Electronics Marketing's semiconductor supplier relationships globally, including its "support across the board" supplier line card strategy and the alignment of Avnet Electronics Marketing's semiconductor sales strategies with supplier roadmaps. Kichloo is a 23-year veteran of the electronics distribution industry and most recently served as president of Avnet Electronics Marketing's South Asia and Korean operations.

"Ravi is an ideal candidate for this position based on his strong supplier relationships, deep semiconductor expertise and proven track record in successfully managing sales organizations," said Feldberg. "I look forward to his continuing contribution to our success as he helps position Avnet Electronics Marketing as the undisputed global semiconductor distributor of choice for our customers."

While Kichloo will lead semiconductor business development efforts, Barber will be specifically responsible for Xilinx business development worldwide. Given the global scope and significant nature of Xilinx's relationship with Avnet Electronics Marketing, Barber will be developing new joint programs and industry-leading best practices to accelerate growth in the Xilinx business line on a cross-regional basis. Barber joined Avnet Electronics Marketing as part of its recent acquisition of electronics distributor and design-chain specialist Memec. He worked at Memec for 12 years, where he managed global business development for its Xilinx relationship.

"Since joining Avnet with the Memec acquisition, Tim has demonstrated a high level of expertise, leadership and effectiveness in support of our strategic global relationship with Xilinx," said Feldberg. "Tim has distinguished himself for nearly a decade in developing Xilinx's business, and his team will continue to maximize and grow Avnet's relationship with them globally."
