Respondents included corporate and general management, and purchasing and procurement managers who buy an average of US$31 million of components, which is nearly double the average spend of the previous year, the survey said.

Respondents to the survey are manufacturers of all types of end products, including communication systems, consumer electronics and appliances, computer peripherals, control, security, test and medical instrumentation, automotive products, avionics avionics (ā'vēŏn`ĭks), electronic instruments used in air or space flight; also the design and production of such instruments. Early planes had few instruments, but as aviation and aircraft became more complex, so did instrumentation.  and military equipment.
