Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2000

Software developer BHMI broadens Avnet Computer's suite of

e-business offerings with custom application design

Avnet Computer, a solutions integrator for e-business platforms, Monday announced it has signed an agreement with Omaha, Neb.-based Baldwin Hackett & Meeks Inc. (BHMI), a software developer specializing in highly available, custom applications for e-business environments.

The partnership allows Avnet Computer to benefit from BHMI's expertise in the fields of web enablement, application design, project implementation and software development and support. In return, BHMI will be able to tap into Avnet Computer's experience providing customers technology solutions that help fortify for·ti·fy

their IT infrastructure to support e-business ventures.

Primarily a developer of enterprise solutions for the Compaq NonStop(R) platform in its early days, BHMI has evolved to embrace an open-systems approach over its 14-year history. BHMI currently specializes in large-scale, highly available web-enabled software across multiple and disparate platforms.

As a result, Avnet Computer customers now have the ability to design unique, web-enabled applications that run on a network custom-built and tested for that particular environment. This capability strengthens Avnet Computer's suite of e-business services considerably, at a time when more and more businesses are taking advantage of e-business and moving processes to the Web.

"Adding BHMI to our best-in-class partners greatly expands Avnet Computer's already formidable portfolio of e-business services," said Brian Armstrong, Avnet Computer president. "BHMI is a proven leader in the field of high-availability custom application development, a unique service that is only now coming into its own in the new economy.

"This partnership will allow each of us to offer a level of expertise and customer service that didn't exist before, and we look forward to passing the benefits of this synergy on to our mutual customers."

"As an experienced software services organization, BHMI understands the importance of creating joint partnerships to meet the needs of our customers," said Jack Baldwin
