The semiconductor industry is faced with the challenge of manufacturing ever shrinking IC devices that continue to grow in complexity in order to achieve higher performing chips. As device geometries continue to scale, ALD demonstrates the capability to overcome the technical limitations and cost barriers of thin film manufacturing requirements. The films deposited by the ALD technique are highly conformal, uniform and the composition control is down to the atomic level. ALD is enabling the continued shrinking of device geometries at the 90-nm node and below.
