Aviza Technology Receives Order for AVP(TM) Systems From Silterra Malaysia; Multiple Order for Refurbished Tools Validates Importance of OEM Certified Refurbished Equipment Program.

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- Aviza Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ NASDAQ

Bhd. for refurbished Advanced Vertical Processor (AVP AVP

(TM)) thermal processing systems. Initial tool shipments have already begun and are scheduled to continue through mid-year 2006.

Over the past five years, Aviza has enjoyed a successful partnership with Silterra. This repeat order substantiates Aviza's position as a leading provider of thermal processing systems and associated applications. Aviza's worldwide installed base of AVP systems is over 600 tools.

"Our working relationship with Aviza has been mutually rewarding," said Ralph Griffin, Vice President of Operations at Silterra. "With the company's certified refurbished equipment program, we found the selection process of the AVP systems through purchase and initial installation very straightforward. The program is proving to be the most cost-effective solution to meet our production budgets and goals. We plan to use Aviza's AVP systems for most of our thermal oxidation and low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD LPCVD Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition ) requirements."

The AVP vertical batch thermal processing systems deliver production-proven performance and optimized throughput with the use of a dual boat/single tube design and in-situ cleaning capability, providing the lowest cost of ownership (CoO) for diffusion, oxidation and LPCVD applications. The AVP tool delivers superior process results and can reduce cycle time and achieve improved uniformity by leveraging Aviza's proprietary Advanced Temperature Control (ATC ATC Air Traffic Control

"Aviza prides itself on being a company that is capable of offering a variety of solutions to meet its customers' needs and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction," said May Su, Vice President and General Manger, Thermal Business Unit of Aviza Technology, Inc. "In almost all instances, the option to purchase a refurbished system direct from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is a better choice over buying one from a third party refurbisher. We are pleased that Silterra has selected our refurbished AVP systems for its CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) Pronounced "c-moss." The most widely used integrated circuit design. It is found in almost every electronic product from handheld devices to mainframes.  logic, high voltage and mixed signal/radio frequency process technologies. We look forward to providing continued support to Silterra."

Aviza formed its Certified Refurbished Equipment Business Unit in April 2005. Since this time, Aviza has shipped more than 15 refurbished systems to multiple customers in Asia, Europe and North America.

One of the primary reasons for purchasing refurbished systems from OEMs over third party refurbishers is risk mitigation. Through a formalized and rigorous certification process that includes final testing, which is consistent with new equipment requirements, Aviza can ship systems on time and on budget and at the lowest total cost (from system price, refurbishment, installation, qualification and warranty).
