Aviza Technology Appoints Dr. Masaaki Yashiro President of Aviza Japan K.K.

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- Aviza Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ GM:AVZA), a supplier of advanced semiconductor equipment and process technologies for the global semiconductor, compound semiconductor, nanotechnology and other related markets, today announced the appointment of Dr. Masaaki Yashiro as President of Aviza Technology Japan K.K. In this role, Dr. Yashiro will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, supporting Aviza's current customer base in Japan as well as further broadening and strengthening Aviza's market presence in the region. He will report directly to Aviza's Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Customer Support, Rick O'Malley.

Dr. Yashiro has over 27 years of global experience in the semiconductor industry and has held various positions in executive management, operations, program management and process engineering. Dr. Yashiro comes to Aviza from The SEZ Group where he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of SEZ Japan. Prior to SEZ, he was Vice President, Corporate Development and Technology at Tokyo Electron, Ltd., where he oversaw 300-mm JDP activities. Dr. Yashiro also worked at Texas Instruments for approximately 15 years, focusing primarily on DRAM technology development, productization and volume manufacturing. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan.
