Avicon Names Chief Technical Officer, Chief Financial Officer and

Chief People Officer

Avicon, a global provider of eBusiness services, today announced the appointments of Marc Linster to chief technology officer (CTO), Richard Block to chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president financial services and consulting, and Susan Sgroi to chief people officer (CPO).

Marc Linster

Linster has 15 years of experience in the design and development of information technology solutions. At Avicon, Linster will focus on the development and deployment of methodologies, architectures and service offerings.

Linster's fifteen years of experience in the information technology solution space includes designing, developing and deploying Internet business solutions for eCommerce and eService for a number of worldwide businesses in the high-tech and healthcare industries.

Linster comes to Avicon from Internet Business Advantages, where he played a leading role in building the Systems Integration and Professional Services capabilities. Prior to that, Linster was a technology manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was involved in a wide range of projects including sales automation, personal productivity platforms, email migration, and network management.

Linster received his Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany.

Richard Block

Block has 25 years experience in the semiconductor, computer systems, and financial consulting industries in senior financial and project management capacities. As Avicon's CFO and vice president of financial services and consulting, he is responsible for day-to-day and strategic financial management, eBusiness financial evaluations, and business consulting.

Before joining Avicon, Block spent 10 years in the semiconductor industry. Most recently, he was the sales and marketing controller for Intel Massachusetts, Inc., a subsidiary of Intel. Before Intel, Block was the U.S. manufacturing controller and then the division controller for Digital Semiconductor, (DS), a division of Digital Equipment Corporation. His responsibilities at Intel and DS included day-to-day division financial management, accounting operations, financial reporting, manufacturing and product line financial planning, product / project investment planning, product costing, and financial systems development.

Block is a frequent speaker and writer on activity-based management and target costing. He is a CPA, certified in Massachusetts; he holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from New York University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

Susan Sgroi

Sgroi brings to Avicon more than 15 years experience in the human resources field with extensive experience in developing executive leadership, training, compensation and achievement programs. Sgroi will focus on aggressive recruitment and the development and stewardship of Avicon's progressive company culture.

Before joining Avicon, Sgroi spent ten years with BankBoston, most recently as director of international human resources with responsibility for managing the human resource practices and programs for the International Bank which had over 10,000 employees. She also served as director of training, director of compensation and director of human resources for the consumer and small business bank. Prior to BancBoston, Sgroi was with May Department Store Company where she held several executive human resource management positions.

Sgroi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bowdoin College and will complete her Masters in Organization Development from American University in October 2000.
