Avicon's epcExpress Provides Software Framework for Cost-Effective RFID Compliance.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- First Scalable RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna.  Software Framework Leverages Existing Distribution and Order Management Systems

Avicon, architects of the new supply chain, today announced epcExpress, an out-of-the-box comprehensive software framework that supports Department of Defense and Wal-Mart's RFID compliance requirements Compliance requirements are a series of directives established by United States Federal government agencies that summarize hundreds of Federal laws and regulations applicable to Federal assistance (also known as Federal aid or Federal funds).  and scales for full RFID-enablement of the supply chain.

epcExpress is the first software framework that leverages existing distribution and order management systems, providing a faster and more cost effective path to RFID compliance than other available options. Avicon's epcExpress is built to industry standards; it provides a modular, extensible and layered architecture An architecture in which data moves from one defined level of processing to another. epcExpress leverages RFTagAware(TM), the leading RFID application-level event management software, provided by ConnecTerra(R), an Avicon partner. epcExpress is available on Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows).
