Aviation Week Group to launch 'Defense Technology International'.

The Aviation Week Group (Washington D.C.) of the McGraw-Hill Cos. (New York) will begin the publication of "Defense Technology International" on Sept. 12. The new magazine title will cover a range of defense technologies, including air-, land- and sea-based systems "that are driving military transformation," the company said. It will be bound into "Aviation Week" for existing subscribers and mailed as a poly-bagged, free-standing magazine along with "Aviation Week" to non-Aviation Week subscribers. It will have an initial controlled circulation of 38,000 senior military and industry professionals, 30% of whom are outside the U.S. A second issue will be published on Nov. 21 followed by bimonthly frequency beginning in 2006.

Defense Technology International will cover all branches of the military, using "Aviation Week & Space Technology's" reporting on aerospace technology and programs. "Creating a dedicated information source focused on current and emerging defense technologies is a natural progression from our leadership position in aviation and aerospace," said Kenneth E. Gazzola, Aviation Week Group exec VP-publisher. "The launching of Defense Technology International will expand our reach beyond our existing leadership position in aviation and aerospace," Gazzola added.

Aviation Week Group is the largest multimedia information and services provider to the global aviation and aerospace industry, and includes publications such as "Aviation Week & Space Technology," "Aviation Daily," "Overhaul & Maintenance," "Aerospace Daily & Defense Report," "ShowNews," "Homeland Security," "The Weekly of Business Aviation," "Business & Commercial Aviation," and the "World Aviation Directory & Aerospace Database."
