MARLBOROUGH, Mass. & ROCHELLE PARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 2002

Partnership Gives Wireless Operators Enhanced Content Optimization

Services and Accelerated Deployment

Avian Communications, Inc., the premier company that enables wireless carriers to increase revenues from mobile data services, and Speedwise Technologies Ltd., the leading vendor of wireless Internet optimization solutions, have announced a strategic partnership to enable wireless service providers to optimize their networks for the targeted delivery of mobile data services.

The partnership will provide wireless service providers with enhanced management capabilities in an optimized multi-application environment through a combination of the unique Intelligent Networking architecture of the Avian Mobile Services Switching Point (MSSP (MultiService Switching Platform) A high-end Cisco router that supports high-speed optical connections in the core of the network. See MSPP and MSTP. (TM)) platform, and Speedwise's market leading optimization solutions including Speedwise Accellence(TM).

Speedwise Accellence is the most widely deployed wireless Internet optimization solution. It accelerates and optimizes Internet services to any HTML-enabled device without requiring additional client side software. Accellence has already been deployed over GSM, GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) The first high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that used the GSM technology. GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations. , UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) The GSM implementation of the 3G wireless phone system. Part of IMT-2000, UMTS provides service in the 2 GHz band and offers global roaming and personalized features. , CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  and CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) A low-speed, digital, wireless data network that is an enhancement to an existing analog cellular network. Based on IBM's CelluPlan II, CDPD provides a packet overlay onto the AMPS network and moves data at 19.  networks worldwide and enables operators to increase network utilization.

The Avian MSSP open service architecture and APIs enable mobile operators to rapidly deploy multiple service applications at the mobile network edge without the need for multiple platforms Refers to two or more operating environments, which typically include the CPU family and operating system. For example, if versions of a program run on Windows and the Macintosh, the software is said to support multiple platforms.  in the IP data flow. Services from `best of breed' applications developers such as Speedwise can be supported on a single carrier class platform featuring the highest level of scalability, manageability and reliability.

"Speedwise is consistently looking to team up with industry leaders in order to provide more value and revenue-enhancing services to wireless operators world wide," said Amit Mattatia, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Speedwise. "With this partnership, our carrier customers are poised to deliver higher value and additional services to their end-users, while increasing overall profit margins and improving average revenue per user."

"As mobile operators look to deploy more and more revenue generating services at the mobile network edge a new approach is needed to reduce the number of servers in the data flow," said Jules Meunier, CEO of Avian Communications. "Avian's MSSP is designed to closely partner with industry leaders such as Speedwise to continue to meet this need for our customers."
