Aviall Introduces 3M(TM) Advanced Systems Tester 900AST.

Revolutionary, Multifunctional Wiring Tester Saves Money By Eliminating Need for Additional Equipment

Aviall Services, Inc. today announced that it is the first aviation parts provider to offer the revolutionary new 3M(TM) Advanced Systems Tester 900AST (AST Computer, Irvine, CA) A PC manufacturer founded in 1980 by Albert Wong, Safi Quershey and Tom Yuen (A, S and T). It offered a complete line of PCs that sold through its dealer channel. . The 900AST is a handheld, integrated test set designed specifically for locating faults -- opens, shorts and intermittents -- in the wiring of various transportation classes including most military, commercial and private aircraft. It is unique in including the multimeter functions most commonly used in troubleshooting aircraft wiring, plus the ability to find shorts and opens to within inches of a fault, all in one tester. TDRs can also measure how the characteristic impedance of a line varies along its length.  (TDR TDR - time domain reflectometer ) functionality to help aviation mechanics quickly locate faults and verify repairs on various conductor types. Key benefits include:
-- The 900AST is powerful and extremely accurate. Technicians can
determine and display opens and shorts to within inches of a fault.

-- It is designed for functionality and ease of use. The unit is self-
calibrating. An infrared communications port allows uploading of
stored measurement results to a PC. A large, easy-to-read LCD
display supports built-in internal help menus and on-screen wiring
connection diagrams. Test leads are included.

-- Minimal training is needed to operate the unit - it is suitable for
technicians with little or no previous TDR experience.

-- The 900AST supports a full range of individual tests to categorize
       and sectionalize potential problems.
