Avesta Technologies Launches Industry's First Customer Service Management Solution for Network Service Providers.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1998--

-- Targeted Information Delivery to Customers Dramatically Improves the

Integrity of Service Provider Offerings --

Avesta Technologies, Inc. today announced general availability of Niagara as the Customer Service desktop application for its Trinity IT Service Management solution. Niagara is a Java(TM)-based desktop that integrates multiple views of critical IT and business information streams. Niagara combines IT information such as IT alarms, performance statistics, operations news, billing information and service level reports to provide an overall management perspective of IT service delivery to customers.

"As organizations increase their dependency on service providers, information technology must be managed based on business-oriented service level agreements. Customer are demanding visibility into IT service delivery as a critical factor in their business decision making process," said Dave Arbeitel, vice president of product management at Avesta. "Niagara addresses the need of IT organizations, ISPs, managed service providers and carriers to provide a customer service desktop solution, without introducing the complexities of remote desktop application management," he said.

When used with Trinity, Niagara's ability to integrate real-time and historical dynamic content can be used by service providers to deliver a "just-in-time" management perspective of service delivery. Featuring push/pull content subscription capabilities, personalized filtering, and custom notification based on content, Niagara provides the customers of service providers with the right portfolio of IT information to make better business decisions.

Niagara's components include NetChannels -- configurable to display internal or external feeds, news, IT service information such alarm information in a scrolling ticker paradigm; and Montage montage (mŏntäzh`, Fr. môNtäzh`), the art and technique of motion-picture editing in which contrasting shots or sequences are used to effect emotional or intellectual responses.  -- a partitioned workspace that simultaneously displays multiple information sources and JavaBean(TM) applications. Niagara, along with Trinity, scales to support thousands of concurrent users across an enterprise.
