Avesta, AT&T Solutions to Jointly Develop Software; Next-Generation Technology Will be Deployed in AT&T's Global Clients.

Business/High-Tech Editors

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2000

Avesta Technologies(R), Inc., a leading provider of software that manages the infrastructure of e-business, and AT&T Solutions, the networking professional services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  subsidiary of AT&T, have entered into a strategic relationship to collaboratively develop next-generation technology to be deployed in support of AT&T's global outsourcing clients.

Avesta will work closely with AT&T Solutions to adapt its products to the Global Enterprise Management System (GEMS) proprietary platform that AT&T Solutions deploys in Global Client Support Centers around the world. GEMS produces seamless networking capabilities - including predictive management - by integrating proprietary software developed at AT&T Labs with best-in-class enterprise-management software.

AT&T Solutions' centers will serve as a beta test A test of new or revised hardware or software that is performed by users at their facilities under normal operating conditions. Beta testing follows alpha testing. Vendors of packaged software often offer their customers the opportunity of beta testing new releases or versions, and the  site for Avesta's leading-edge technology. Additionally, AT&T Solutions will serve on two advisory councils that help guide Avesta's ongoing technology development, and the two companies will share sales leads A sales lead is the identity of a person or entity potentially interested in purchasing a product or service, and represents the first stage of a sales process. The lead may have a corporation or business associated with the person(s). . The contract expands on an agreement concluded earlier this year in which AT&T Solutions licensed Avesta's Trinity(TM) for deployment in GEMS.

"Our close working relationship with Avesta supports evolution of the GEMS platform's end-to-end capabilities as we offer more comprehensive next-generation outsourcing and e-business services," said Scott Perry, vice president of strategy and business development at AT&T Solutions. "We intend to enhance GEMS' predictive capabilities - allowing us to address potential networking issues before they impact our clients, and further improving the level of service we provide. We're delighted to be able to draw on Avesta's expertise in this effort."

"This relationship will ensure that our development team continues to deliver service management solutions that are uniquely focused towards the needs of AT&T," said Kam Saifi, Avesta's president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "By establishing direct lines of senior-level communications with a strategic customer capable of providing valuable input, Avesta's products will remain on the cutting edge of functionality and scalability for the service provider marketplace."
