Pyott as a director of the Company, effective as of November 1, 1999.

Before Novartis was created by the 1996 merger of CIBA-Geigy AG and Sandoz AG, Pyott was head of the Sandoz Nutrition Division and a member of the executive board of Sandoz. He joined Sandoz in 1980 in operational planning and international product management, and served in increasingly responsible positions including marketing manager in Malaysia and Singapore, general manager in Austria and then in Spain, and president and chief executive officer of Sandoz Nutrition Corporation in the United States.

Pyott represents Allergan as a member of the board of directors of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is an industry trade group representing the pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies in the United States. , an organization comprised of the leading research-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in the United States.
