Averant Announces Expansion into European Marketplace.

Business Editors/High Tech Writers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2000

Averant, Inc., a leading provider of advanced verification technology for RTL (Register Transfer Level) A high-level hardware description language (HDL) for defining digital circuits. The circuits are described as a collection of registers, Boolean equations, control logic such as "if-then-else" statements as well as complex event sequences;  designers, today announced the signing of three distributors in Europe to market its products: Hardi Electronics AB for the Nordic region, Prime-EDA BV for the Benelux region, and Saros Technology for the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Averant's static verification product, Solidify, finds more bugs earlier in the design cycle than simulation, and is faster and easier to use. It is a high-capacity, static RTL analysis tool which verifies the functional behavior of a block, coded in Verilog or VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) A hardware description language (HDL) used to design electronic systems at the component, board and system level. VHDL allows models to be developed at a very high level of abstraction. , without using vectors. Each distributor will provide all front-line service and support for Averant products sold in their territory.

"This marks the beginning of Averant's penetration into the European marketplace," said Hal Alles, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Europe represents 25% of the world-wide market for electronic design automation (EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board. ) software. This agreement builds on our international marketing strategy and represents significant potential revenue for Averant. "Solidify provides a new approach to block-level verification," said Lars-Eric Lundgren, President of Hardi Electronics AB. "By significantly reducing the number of needed HDL (Hardware Description Language) A language used to describe the functions of an electronic circuit for documentation, simulation or logic synthesis (or all three). Although many proprietary HDLs have been developed, Verilog and VHDL are the major standards.  simulation testbenches, Solidify provides a breakthrough in productivity for designers. We are excited about introducing this new technology to our customers."

"We are very excited about offering Solidify in the Benelux region," said Chris van Veenendaal, President of Prime-EDA BV. "Our customers are facing big verification challenges and Solidify's static approach will get them to find problems earlier in the design cycle and with less effort. We expect that Solidify will become widely adopted."

"Averant has a very impressive verification product that finds bugs in less time and with less effort than currently available," said Chris Rose This article is about the sports analyst; for the New Orleans Times-Picayune journalist with this name, see Chris Rose (journalist).

, Managing Director of Saros Technology. "Averant has the potential of making Solidify a requirement in the design verification methodology. Because of its high-speed and capacity, Averant's tool is ideal for exhaustive analysis of IP cores and HDL blocks. It reduces design iterations and accelerates integration of blocks into a system, which is a bottleneck A lessening of throughput. It often refers to networks that are overloaded, which is caused by the inability of the hardware and transmission lines to support the traffic. It can also refer to a mismatch inside the computer where slower-speed peripheral buses and devices prevent the CPU  for today's designers."

About Averant

Averant, Inc., founded in 1997, is a privately held EDA company pioneering the new market for static functional verification Functional verification, in electronic design automation, is the task of verifying that the logic design conforms to specification. In everyday terms, functional verification attempts to answer the question "Does this proposed design do what is intended?" This is a complex task, . The company provides Solidify--a design tool that delivers unprecedented performance in block-level verification for RTL designers. Solidify improves design quality, shortens design cycles, and eliminates unnecessary simulation. Averant's products are easily incorporated into synthesis and IP reuse design flows.
