AverStar's Intermetrics Plays Integral Part On $400 Million INS Stars Contract Team; AverStar Revenue Estimated at $28 Million.


BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1998--AverStar, Inc. today announced that its Intermetrics subsidiary, as a member of a team headed by Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC SAIC - http://saic.com. ), was awarded the Systems Management Integration (SM/I) services contract under the Immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. ) Service Technology Alliance Resources (STARS) program. The total potential value of the five-year SM/I contract is approximately $400 million and will result in an estimated $28 million in revenue for AverStar.

The SM/I award to the SAIC team is the first of five contracts to come out of INS' $1.2 billion Service Technology Alliance Resources (STARS) program which is designed to oversee the continued development of the agency's information systems. Under the terms of the contract, SAIC and its subcontractors will act as the primary planners and integrators of ongoing systems development at INS over the next five years.

AverStar employees working on-site in Washington, D.C. will apply their expertise in a number of critical areas to the STARS SM/I project to provide requirements analysis (project) requirements analysis - The process of reviewing a business's processes to determine the business needs and functional requirements that a system must meet.  and validation, systems integration, software development, task order management, test and evaluation services, quality assurance, configuration management and system fielding and evaluation services.

The team on the SM/I contract includes SAIC as prime contractor, with AverStar's Intermetrics, Management Systems Designers, Inc., the INDUS Corporation, High Performance Technologies, Inc. and The Analysis Corporation as subcontractors. "Our team has detailed knowledge of the INS culture, organization, personnel and environment," said Scott Donaldson, SAIC's senior program manager for the SM/I contract. "As a result, we will be able to rapidly respond to work requests and to develop a true alliance with all INS organizations."
