Avenue A, Inc. (Nasdaq:AVEA AVEA American Veterinary Exhibitors Association ), a digital marketing services and technology company, announced today that its board of directors elected Mike Slade, former chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Slade began his career at Microsoft in 1983 and spent seven years there in a variety of product marketing roles. Microsoft products he helped introduce to the market include Excel, Works and Office. He served as director of corporate marketing in Microsoft's systems software division before leaving in late 1990. Slade has also held executive positions with Asymetrix Corp and NeXT Computer, Inc.

Since retiring from Starwave after its sale to Walt Disney Corp. in 1998, Slade has divided his time between consulting to Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs, working with various start-up companies with his partners at Seattle-based investment firm Second Avenue Partners, and working closely with the management of the Professional Bowler's Association, of which he is a co-owner.
