Aventis Pharmaceuticals Launches Next Wave of E-Detailing Initiatives.

e-Health Leader Unveils State-of-the-Art e-Detailing

Sales Call Center and Launches iPhysicianNet Pilot

to Enhance Communications with 4,000 Physicians

Aventis Pharmaceuticals, the U.S. pharmaceuticals business of Aventis Pharma AG, today announced the opening of its state-of-the art e-Detailing sales call center, and the launch of an e-Detailing pilot with roughly 4,000 physicians throughout North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .

This call center is one of several new e-Detailing initiatives intended to increase direct-to-physician communications, using various technology channels including the Internet and high-speed telecommunications lines. This new initiative is part of Aventis' larger e-business strategy to achieve better patient outcomes through technology.

The e-Detailing sales call center, a cutting-edge facility located on Route 202/206 in Bridgewater N.J., enables instant online access to Aventis sales representatives to conduct video e-Detailing sessions that conveniently deliver real-time answers to physicians' questions via their computers.

Through an agreement with iPhysicianNet (IPNI IPNI International Plant Names Index ), an e-Detailing technology provider, 4,000 physicians can now use high-speed connectivity and PCs with video capability to connect with online representatives at the Aventis e-Detailing sales call center. Physicians are connected within 60 - 90 seconds, and can discuss products and information for Aventis' strategic brands. Physicians also have access to on-demand information about Aventis' products, including several mode-of-action videos.

"Together, the e-Detailing sales call center and IPNI technology deliver a truly interactive experience that is convenient and flexible for physicians," said Michelle Runge, vice president of e-business at Aventis. "These interactive tools are designed to complement office visits from field representatives by improving the frequency and quality of interaction with physicians so they can ultimately make more informed decisions regarding patient care."
