Aventis Pharma Obtains Additional Approval for Taxoid Antitumor Agent TAXOTERE Injection.Tokyo, Japan, Aug 22, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Aventis Pharma of the sanofi-aventis Group announced on August 19 that it has obtained additional approval for TAXOTERE Injection, its proprietary taxoid antitumor agent, from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as of August 18. Now available for the treatment of endometrial endometrial /en·do·me·tri·al/ (en?do-me´tre-il) pertaining to the endometrium. endometrial, n relating to the end-ometrium or cavity of the uterus. (uterine corpus) cancer, TAXOTERE Injection has been marketed in Japan since 1996, and is currently used in the treatment of various cancers including breast cancer, non-small-cell lung cancer, stomach cancer, head and neck cancer, ovary ovary, ductless gland of the female in which the ova (female reproductive cells) are produced. In vertebrate animals the ovary also secretes the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which control the development of the sexual organs and the secondary sexual cancer and esophagus cancer. In fiscal 2004, domestic sales of TAXOTERE reached 11.6 billion yen ($104.5 mil), up 8.8% year-on-year.
