Aventail first SSL VPN with complete end point control for MAC devices.

Aventail Corporation is making it easier and more secure for Mac users to gain remote access to critical applications from anywhere. The SSL VPN company's latest platform release includes the market's first complete End Point Control solution for Mac devices, with full support for all Mac browsers, including Safari, Firefox, and Mac IE. What's more, the Aventail platform supports both Panther and Tiger operating systems, in contrast to IPSec VPNs such as Cisco, which don't support the new OS.

"An increasing number of employees have Macs at home but still need remote access to corporate applications, and with this release, we've ensured that Mac users can successfully access those resources from anywhere while ensuring full policy control for the network manager," said Evan Kaplan, president and CEO of Aventail Corporation. Mac users who need access to corporate resources such as e-mail or client/server applications simply connect to a standard Internet browser and select the application they need based on a set of Web resources defined by their system administrator. Aventail technology interrogates the Mac device and then appropriately classifies the device into a pre-defined security zone that allows both maximum access and guaranteed protection.

Aventail End Point Control (EPC) is a framework that protects end users of an Aventail SSL VPN and the network from inadvertent or willful security threats introduced by the system (client) used for remote access. It combines proactive security measures, like integrity checking, with countermeasures, like cache cleaning, to make sure the client and confidential data are protected. Aventail is the only VPN, SSL or IPSec, that associates the level of trust for an end device with the level of access allowed.

The new Aventail Smart SSL VPN will be available mid-May, distributed via Aventail's more than 300 channel partners worldwide. Pricing starts at $6,995 for the Aventail EX-750, a full-featured, clientless SSL VPN appliance tailored to small to mid-sized enterprises; and at $9,995 for the Aventail EX-1500 appliance, a scalable, enterprise-class solution, integrating high availability and load balancing support. Aventail Smart SSL VPN requires Mac OS 10.2 or later.
