The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  agreement with Avenda Systems, a provider of policy management systems. Avenda Systems will integrate OPSWAT's OESIS[R] framework into their recently announced eTIPS 2.0 policy management platform to strengthen its monitoring and evaluation capabilities, creating a comprehensive and highly-effective identity and policy management system.

The strategic relationship between the two companies combines Avenda Systems' high-performance trust and identity policy system, eTIPS, with OPSWAT's OESIS[R] technology to effectively protect networks against unauthorized access. By leveraging the OPSWAT technology, Avenda Systems is able to extend the authentication, authorization and access control capabilities of its eTIPS platform by allowing customers to easily define policies in order to effectively monitor devices attempting to access the network. These policies can then be enforced to deny or limit access to those systems lacking the proper security applications or configurations.

"Leveraging OPSWAT's OESIS technology has enabled broad coverage in assessing endpoint health and configuration with the Avenda Universal System Health Agent on both Windows and Linux platforms," said Michael Fine, chief technology officer at Avenda Systems. "We are especially excited to integrate the OPSWAT technology into our next version of eTIPS Policy Management System. This will enable the power built into eTIPS to base policies on the most up to date threat information while eliminating the operational overhead of managing that information."

"We are pleased to have Avenda engineers utilize the OESIS framework to power the monitoring and managing capabilities of network endpoints," said Benny Czarny, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
