Avega Systems Shows Avega Entertainment Center PC Software and Wi-Fi Speakers via Intel[R] My Wi-Fi Technology at CES 2009.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Avega Systems, Inc. is launching the Aios[TM] WiFi entertainment technology platform at CES 2009. Avega's wireless networked music streaming can be experienced at Intel Corporation's booth, Central Hall #7153, as part of the demonstration of the Intel[R] My WiFi platform. Avega Entertainment Center PC Software offers simple and flexible selection, control and streaming of music from the PC or other sources. Using Intel[R] My WiFi Technology wireless 802.11abg networking in the absence of a conventional Wi-Fi router, the demonstration showcases audiophile-grade floor-standing Avega Wi-Fi-connected loudspeakers, with only an Intel[R] My WiFi Technology connection to the PC.

"This showcases important complementary technologies," observes Avega Systems cofounder and Vice President of Business Development, Peter Celinski. "You can see how Intel[R] My WiFi Technology handles many tasks you would normally need to add a router to accomplish. Our Aios[TM] technology offers the industry's first integrated Intel[R] My WiFi Technology media experience for wirelessly connecting and controlling multiple networked audio sources and multiple connected audio players across the house," he adds, "with no compromise in the listening experience."

The combination of Avega Aios[TM] technology running atop the Intel[R] My WiFi Technology platform offers several benefits. In many cases, it lets a home (or a home away from home, like a dorm room) enjoy Wi-Fi music streaming without the expense or bother of installing a router. As homes add Intel[R] Centrino 2 processor based laptops and Avega Aios[TM] enabled players, speakers or other devices, it makes it very easy to establish multiple zones, then simply select which of multiple audio sources to play in which places. And where there is a home Wi-Fi network already in place, Celinski notes, "This can also avoid another possible difficulty. Not to put too fine a point on it, but when some of your kids' friends come over with their notebooks to play music, you don't have to share your WiFi password with them."

"Intel[R] My WiFi Technology is a key laptop ingredient as Wi-Fi contributes more and more to wireless control and enjoyment in the home and on the go," said Scott Doenecke, Intel Wi-Fi Product Manager. "Through companies like Avega Systems, whose expertise in distributed audio complements an Intel[R] Centrino[R] 2 processor based laptop as the mobile content repository, we expect to see new, exciting ways to send content throughout the home."

ABOUT AIOS[TM]

The unique and innovative Avega Systems, Inc. Aios[TM] networked audio distribution and control technology is based on the WiFi (802.11agn) and Ethernet home networking standards, optimized to deliver music without any compromise to the user's listening experience. It is DLNA certified while providing multiple proprietary improvements to existing DLNA/UPnP open standards; these bring a suite of competitive benefits to equipment in which it's embedded, including sample-accurate synchronization, user interface innovations, efficient multicast and virtual device management. QoS enhancements assure reliable, uninterrupted playback despite the sometimes intermittent nature of Wi-Fi networking.

Aios[TM] technology provides a way for the makers of traditional AV equipment (AV receivers, TVs, speakers, table-top radios, etc.) to add networking connectivity for whole-home access to content as well as access to Internet radio, stored media and other connected content resources. These can be selected and controlled from any room and delivered to any room.

Avega Systems, Inc. makes Aios[TM] technology available to brand partners as a software platform and hardware reference designs, robust and easily adaptable to a variety of end-product applications. The biggest benefits are ease of access to your music and the absence of long wires, a known "spousal approval" factor in audio purchases. In addition, while the underlying technology is complex, the user interface remains intuitive and uncomplicated and the listening experience remains pristine.
