Avega Launches Aios[TM] Networked Audio Platform, Announces Global Brand Partner at CES 2009.

Avega-Enabled Networked Media Players and Controllers Bring Compelling Wireless Music Streaming Experience Into the Home, by Building on Aios[TM] Networked Audio Innovations From Avega Systems, Inc.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Avega Systems, Inc. Aios[TM] networked audio technology launching at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, includes networked music players, graphical handheld controllers and PC controller software that work in concert to create a whole-house music experience.

Aios[TM] technology lets a user anywhere in the home select among such in-home audio media sources as media players, PCs, NAS libraries or USB storage as well as integrated access to music from Rhapsody, BiBC and Internet radio powered by RadioTime. The technology is based on the Wi-Fi (802.11n) and Ethernet home networking standards, optimized to deliver music without any compromise to the user's listening experience. It is DLNA certified while providing multiple proprietary improvements to existing DLNA/UPnP open standards; these bring a suite of competitive benefits to equipment in which it's embedded, including sample-accurate synchronization, user interface innovations, efficient multicast and virtual device management. QoS enhancements assure reliable, uninterrupted playback despite the sometimes intermittent nature of Wi-Fi networking.

Available as a software platform and hardware reference designs, Aios[TM] technology provides a way for the makers of traditional AV equipment (receivers, TVs, speakers, table-top radios etc.) to add networking connectivity for whole-home access to content as well as access to Internet radio, stored media and other connected content resources. These can be selected and controlled from any room and delivered to any room.

Cisco Systems is the first brand partner to license Avega's Aios[TM] technology.

"Avega Systems is pleased to be working with Cisco," adds Avega Systems cofounder and Vice President of Business Development, Peter Celinski, "The Avega Aios[TM] platform meets the advanced requirements for the next generation of rich, extensible, connected home entertainment products from our brand partners."
