The two offerings provide complete solutions for different market segments: individual managers seeking a faster way to write effective appraisals (Review Writer 3.0) and Human Resources The fancy word for "people." - Centralized performance appraisal management. The Network Administration module makes it easy for HR to centrally administer the system.

- Completely customizable content. The Content Editor allows HR professionals to customize all areas of the product's content, including the Suggested Text, Improvement Ideas, Rating Tips, and Legal Check. HR can also add new performance factors with accompanying text, so that the system is completely compliant with individual companies' specific competencies.

System Requirements To be used efficiently, all computer software needs certain hardware components or other software resources to be present on a computer system. These pre-requisites are known as (computer) system requirements and are often used as a guideline as opposed to an absolute rule.  

Review Writer 3.0 and Avantos AMS/3 require a minimum system consisting of a 386 PC or higher running Windows 3.1, Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  3.5, or Windows 95; 4MB RAM (8MB for Windows 95, 16MB for Windows NT); 12MB free disk space; and a pointing device An input device used to move the pointer (cursor) on screen. The major pointing device is the mouse for the desktop computer and the touchpad for the laptop, although many road warriors bring along a mouse. . Avantos recommends a 486 PC or higher with 20MB of free disk space and 8MB of RAM.

Review Writer 3.0 has an estimated street price of $99. Avantos AMS/3 is priced at $300 per manager (discounts are offered for volume purchases). Special savings are available on both products before November 22, 1995, and both are available directly from Avantos and from selected software resellers.

Owners of prior versions of Review Writer can upgrade to Review Writer 3.0 for $39.95, or to Avantos AMS/3 for $79.95. Upgrades are available directly from Avantos.
