Mondrus, joint managing director of Avantis Telecom, commented on the new partnership, "After rigorous analysis of several competitive products by Avantis Telecom, Clarent solutions were chosen because they are flexible, easy to operate and highly scalable. With the Clarent softswitch and gateway solutions at the core of the Avantis network, we are able to broaden the reach of our own offerings to customers throughout Eastern Europe, giving us a competitive edge over our rivals. Clarent has also been an extremely competent and professional team to work with."

Avantis Telecom plans to complete its core VoIP network using Clarent's gateways and softswitch by December 2002 with the first point of presence (PoP) in Frankfurt followed by Moscow.
