AvantGo Receives Notice of Allowance for Third Mobile Technology Patent.

HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2003

AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq:AVGO), a leading provider of mobile enterprise software, today announced that it has received a notice of allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office The United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO or USPTO) is an agency in the United States Department of Commerce that provides patent protection to inventors and businesses for their inventions, and trademark registration for product and intellectual property  that the Company will receive its third patent for its innovative mobile technology. The Company believes the patent will be issued before the end of March 2003.

AvantGo is a pioneer in allowing individuals to mobilize web-based content and applications using handheld devices, whether those devices are connected wirelessly or synchronized though a desktop computer or server. This newest patent will cover AvantGo's industry-leading methodology for off-line viewing of web pages or "channels" of content that enable marketers and enterprises to deliver robust mobile applications in an always-available mode.
