Avana Names Farsi CIO.

Grace Development, Inc. (OTCBB: GCDV), doing business as Avana Communications, has named Nicholas Farsi as its Chief Information Officer reporting directly to Ben Holcomb, chairman and CEO. Farsi, an experienced technology executive, was formerly Director of Systems Development with BellSouth Cellular Corp.

In his new position, Farsi is responsible for ensuring that the Atlanta-based integrated communications provider (ICP) has the strategy, technology and software solutions in place to help it reach its strategic goal to become a premier, customer-focused, single-source solution in tier three/four markets.

"Nick's broad experience with various industries, including wireless communications, will enable Avana to create and implement technology and superior solutions in customer relationship management (CRM), billing, marketing information, Internet and e-commerce services," said Holcomb. With the BellSouth Cellular subsidiary of BellSouth Corp. (NYSE: BLS), Farsi was responsible for the overall design, development, implementation and support of software applications enabling the company to achieve its strategic objectives in growth, cost reduction and improved customer service. He managed nearly 340 information technology professionals providing automated solutions in billing, customer care, distribution channels, web applications, finance, data warehousing, mergers and acquisitions.

Before BellSouth Cellular, Farsi was with Federated Systems Group, rising to the position of divisional vice president. There, he led a staff of more than 100 directors, project managers and programmers in the accomplishment of a variety of service enhancements and cost savings. Among its accomplishments, Farsi's group developed and installed common sales and merchandising systems for the Federated Buying Group; delivered payroll, personnel, commission, general ledger and expense payable systems for Macy's Department Stores; and merged financial systems for Maas Brothers and Burdines Department Stores.

Farsi received technical training in information technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is a graduate of The Citadel Military College of South Carolina with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration.
