Avamar Technologies Inc. a leading provider of innovative data protection solutions, today announced the appointment of Christopher Stanton as VP of Sales, Mark de Raad as CFO and Steve Morihiro as VP of Engineering.

All three executives bring extensive experience in the storage industry to help Avamar establish market presence with its disk-backup appliance, Axion.

Stanton will manage and build Avamar's growing sales and services organization. He joins Avamar from EMC Corp., where he successfully led and managed an $800 million business unit comprised of 560 sales, technical support and services personnel as Division Vice President. During his tenure from 1997 to 2000, revenues increased at EMC by 500%. Stanton also built and managed key channel relationships at EMC.

Prior to EMC, he was with Memorex where he held sales and management positions for Memorex storage products. At Avamar, Stanton will also develop partner alliances and manage channel programs for joint marketing activities.

De Raad will be responsible for managing Avamar's finance organization, as well as all general administration activities, including human resources, legal and information systems. Before joining Avamar, de Raad held a variety of senior financial management positions including CFO of Quantum Storage Solutions Group, CFO of ATL Products Inc. and VP Finance and Treasurer of AST Research Inc. De Raad will also be responsible for adding the necessary financial resources and controls to support Avamar's long-term growth objectives.

Morihiro assumes responsibility for managing hardware and software development, product support and quality assurance for Avamar. Prior to Avamar, Morihiro was the VP of Programs and Technology for Quantum Storage Solutions Group, where he led the development of a disk-based backup product. Morihiro also served as CTO and VP of Engineering at ATL, where he built the engineering organization from 20 to more than 150 people, and led the development and engineering support of the full line of automated tape library products and solutions.
