Automotive Aftermarket Sales Exceeded $200 Billion in 2007


Total U.S. automotive aftermarket sales reached $202.5 billion in 2007, according to the new aftermarket channel forecasting model highlighted in the 2008-2009 AASA AASA American Association of School Administrators
AASA Asian American Student Association
AASA Association of Academies of Sciences in Asia
AASA Aging and Adult Services Administration
AASA Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army
 Automotive Aftermarket Status Report, recently published by the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association.

An entire section of the Status Report is dedicated to the new forecasting model that was developed by Global Insight and jointly commissioned by AASA, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA AAIA Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (consolidation of the Automotive Parts & Accessories Association and the Automotive Service Industry Association)

) and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA SEMA Specialty Equipment Market Association
SEMA Société d'Encouragement aux Métiers d'Art (Society for the Promotion of Art Trades; France)
SEMA Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association
SEMA State Emergency Management Agency
). The forecasting model is used to analyze the automotive aftermarket by channel sales. For example, general automotive repair shops reported 16.1% of total aftermarket sales in 2007.

Other features in the Status Report, which is now in its 10th year of publication, include the latest figures on unperformed Adj. 1. unperformed - not performed; "the author of numerous unperformed plays"
unstaged - not performed on the stage
 maintenance, an overview of the North American aftermarket and an analysis of the do-it-yourself market.
