Automatic tithing machine.

AUGUSTA, Georgia -- Pastor Marty Baker of Stevens Creek Community Church has found a new way to pass the collection plate, the L.A. Times reports. After noticing that fewer congregants in his 1,100-member church brought cash on Sunday, Baker teamed up with a church member who is a computer programmer to develop his "giving kiosk," an ATM-like machine that allows worshipers to donate electronically.

"I paid for gas today with a card and got lunch with one," said church member Josh Marshall. "This is really no different."
