Automatic finishing machine offers two-stage die trimming of I.D./O.D.After 50 years of building dies for the rubber industry which were hand loaded, the company has developed an I.D. and O.D. automatic punching machine. The unique feature of this system is said to be that the machine is programmable to match a customer's molded heat of rubber. This machine is not limited to just I.D. and O.D. progressive trim dies. The feeding system can take any molded sheet or strip of rubber and move it into the trimming area very quickly. The system does require a small amount of lead or radius to help the part into the die. Therefore, a square cornered tube would not be a good application for this system. However, most parts molded today would feed through this machine without any problem, according to the literature. Two features are said to make the machine unique, including the programmable control and the shear type die used by the company. The programmable control allows three inputs to be installed after the part number. The first input is the distance from the start point to the first punch point which could be the I.D. or O.D., or slitting operation. The second input is the distance between rows, or spacing. The third input is the number of rows that are to be punched. Altman Manufacturing Circle 107 on card [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] |
