Autodesk reports third quarter results; design automation leader shows sales growth in all geographic regions.

SAUSALITO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1994--Autodesk Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:ACAD) Thursday reported net revenues for the quarter ended Oct. 31, 1994, increased to $108.2 million compared to $98.2 million for the same quarter in the prior fiscal year, an increase of 10 percent.

Net income for the third quarter was $15.9 million, or $.32 per share, compared with $14.9 million, or $.30 per share, in the prior fiscal year.

The company's increase in third quarter net revenues was primarily attributable to strong sales of products adjacent to AutoCAD, the industry-standard design automation software package. These products include AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD Designer, as well as products from Autodesk's Emerging Businesses Group such as 3D Studio and AutoVision.

"Our third quarter results confirm the company's ability to manage through the late stages of the product cycle," said Carol Bartz, chief executive officer of Autodesk, adding, "Even as we transition to the next release of AutoCAD, we will continue to focus our efforts on diversifying products and markets and the aggressive, on-going management of the business."

Highlights of the company's third quarter include increased net revenues in all geographic regions, including growth in Asia/Pacific of nearly 25 percent compared to the same period in the prior fiscal year. This growth resulted chiefly from new unit sales of AutoCAD Release 12 and sales of local language versions of AutoCAD LT and 3D Studio.

Revenues in the Americas region increased sequentially by 10 percent, due in part to continued demand for AutoCAD Release 12. Sales of multimedia products were strong in all regions during the third quarter, with 3D Studio posting quarterly records for both new seats and revenues.
