Autodesk reports 58 percent increase in first quarter earnings.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 1995-- Autodesk, Inc. today reported net revenues for the first quarter ended April 30, 1995 increased to $138.7 million from $106.6 million for the same quarter in the prior fiscal year, an increase of 30 percent. Net income for the first quarter was $26.0 million, or $.51 per share, an increase of 58 percent over the $16.4 million, or $.33 per share posted in the same period of the prior fiscal year.

The Company's increase in net revenues during the first quarter was attributable to record new unit shipments of AutoCAD, the industry-standard design automation software package. Record sales of multimedia products, including 3D Studio Release 4 and Animator Studio, and low-cost CAD products such as AutoCAD LT contributed to the successful quarter as well. The Company also posted double-digit revenue growth in all geographic regions, most notably in Asia/Pacific, where revenues increased by 50 percent over the same period in the prior fiscal year.
