Autodesk Unveils Autocad Map; GIS Market Group Announces First of Family of Mapping and GIS Products.Market Group today introduced AutoCAD Map, which for the first time integrates mapping and GIS (Geographic Information System geographic information system (GIS) Computerized system that relates and displays data collected from a geographic entity in the form of a map. AutoCAD Map combines robust map creation and editing tools, such as digitizing, rubber sheeting, and multi-user editing, with geographic analysis tools, such as polygon overlay, buffering, and network analysis, utilizing GIS topology. The target audience for AutoCAD Map includes engineers, planners, utility managers and technicians who make and maintain their own maps, as well as users who wish to use AutoCAD as their GIS foundation.
