Autodesk Reports Quarterly and Fiscal Year Results; Design Automation Leader Posts Record Fourth Quarter Revenues.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 1995--Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:ACAD) today reported net revenues for the fourth quarter ended January 31, 1995 increased to $129.6 million from $102.1 million for the same quarter in the prior fiscal year, an increase of 27 percent.

Net income for the fourth quarter was $24.1 million, or $.48 per share compared with $15.3 million, or $.31 per share in the prior fiscal year, exclusive of a one time fiscal 1995 charge of approximately $26 million, or $.33 per share (net of tax) resulting from judgement in a suit filed by the Vermont Microsystems, Inc. Autodesk is currently appealing the ruling.

Net revenues for the fiscal year ended January 31, 1995 were $454.6 million, an increase of 12 percent over net revenues of $405.6 million for the previous fiscal year. Net income for fiscal '95 was $56.6 million or $1.14 per share (after reflecting the impact of the one time litigation charge) compared to $62.2 million or $1.25 per share in fiscal 1994.

The Company's increase in net revenues during fiscal 1995 was attributable to solid revenue growth in all geographies. For example, in the Company's fourth quarter, net revenues in the Americas increased by 13 percent, Asia/Pacific net revenues increased by 31 percent, and Europe posted a record 45 percent gain over the same period in the prior fiscal year.

Strong demand for AutoCAD, including AutoCAD Release 13, which first began shipping at the end of November, contributed to the strong quarter and year, as did continuing worldwide sales of products adjacent to AutoCAD, such as AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD Designer, and multimedia products such as 3D Studio and AutoVision.

Autodesk's customer base totals three million customers who are supported either directly by the Company or through a network of authorized dealers.
