:SOFT) and leading provider of collaborative product data management (PDM (1) (Product Data Management) An information system used to manage the data for a product as it passes from engineering to manufacturing. The data includes plans, geometric models, CAD drawings, images, NC programs as well as all related project data, notes and ) software solutions, today announced that its ProductCenter(TM) collaborative PDM solution has been certified for Autodesk Inventor Autodesk Inventor is the 3D parametric solid modeling package produced by U.S.-based software company Autodesk. It competes with other CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, and Solid Edge. (R) 6, Autodesk's newest 3D mechanical design software release, under the Autodesk Inventor Certified Applications Program.

The ProductCenter(TM) Inventor Integrator provides seamless user access from within Autodesk Inventor to ProductCenter file management, version/revision control, release management, and other add-on products, such as ProductCenter(TM) Workflow and ProductCenter(TM) BOM Editor. With instant access to information, improved communications, and release control and approval processes that can be managed from within Autodesk Inventor software, customers gain significant productivity and time-to-market advantages.

As with Autodesk Inventor, ProductCenter is also designed to smooth a company's transition to 3D. Its behind-the-scenes management of 3D product definitions, as users develop or make changes, allows the user to focus on the design effort at hand and not on managing data. Where there is much to consider when making any change in the way a company develops products, ProductCenter eases this transition, providing a very cost effective solution that implements quickly and is readily adopted by users for fast results and return on investment.

"It is important also for companies using Autodesk Inventor to understand how ProductCenter surpasses other rudimentary data management tools -- there are very big differences," states Jay Pappas, ProductCenter Product Manager. "ProductCenter does more than manage data. ProductCenter creates greater interoperability among all your critical design resources, including downstream manufacturing systems. It fosters collaborative design, with earlier and closer communications across functional organizations, with suppliers, customers, and partners. Through standards such as XML XML
 in full Extensible Markup Language.

Markup language developed to be a simplified and more structural version of SGML. It incorporates features of HTML (e.g., hypertext linking), but is designed to overcome some of HTML's limitations.
, it also maximizes and facilitates convenient repurposing of your product information into customized user portals, allowing varied user communities to access data in product context or other ways more meaningful to them. Lastly, it adapts your way of doing business for quick automation of your own version/revisioning schemes, and other business processes and procedures."

For those companies operating in mixed CAD environments, WTC also offers ProductCenter Integrators to AutoCAD(R) and Autodesk(R) Mechanical Desktop, and other popular design and support applications.
