AutoCAD Mechanical is a specialized version of AutoCAD Release 14 completely optimized for mechanical designers and drafters. It is available as a stand-alone product or as an upgrade from AutoCAD Release 12, 13 or 14. The software incorporates all the functionality of AutoCAD Release 14.01, plus additional features including a streamlined mechanical interface that simplifies access to mechanical functions; mechanical symbols that are fully compliant with international drafting standards; several new commands for creating and editing mechanical dimensions; and an enriched online help system supported by multimedia examples. Initially available in the U.S. and Canada, AutoCAD Mechanical Release 1.0 has a U.S. suggested retail price of $3,895 for the full system incorporating AutoCAD Release 14.01 software.
