 Inc.) and Thomson-CSF, has been selected by MAN, a German manufacturer of high-technology trucks, to provide adaptive cruise control An automotive cruise control system that automatically slows down the car if it is moving too close to the vehicle in front of it. A radar or laser unit located behind the grille determines the speed and distance of the vehicle in front.  radar sensors Radio detection and ranging (radar) is used to sense angle, range and velocity of (moving) scatterers in the environment [1] [2]. Radar sensor figures of merit include maximum range and solid angle, as well as angular, range and velocity resolution.  for MAN's new "Trucknology" range of trucks.

The award follows a period of extensive evaluation testing by MAN in which the Autocruise(R) radar showed the highest performance, reliability and durability, even in the worst conditions. "Autocruise is the best radar on the market," said Dr. Karl Viktor Schaller, head of advanced engineering at MAN.

With this award, Autocruise Ltd. extends its customer portfolio from passenger car to truck applications. The company is starting production of its radar sensor at the end of the year to support the vehicle launch of a major European automaker. Autocruise Ltd. will produce sensors

The company will develop a next-generation radar, and it recently concluded a strategic alliance with Visteon Corporation. The company also is deeply involved in the European program CARSENSE, a consortium of car manufacturers, suppliers and research institutes that is developing advanced driver assistance systems Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS, are systems to help the driver in its driver process. When designed with a safe Human-Machine Interface it should increase car safety and more generally road safety. .
