The recently unveiled Select-A-Car application is a cross-vendor Internet Selling System designed for dealers, Internet portals, car-buying services and manufacturers to integrate into their eCommerce sites.

Through its Internet sites, Group 1 sells new and used cars and light trucks, maintenance and repair services, replacement parts, auto-related financing, and vehicle service and insurance contracts. By deploying Select-A-Car, Group 1 will be able to assist online consumers in the decision-making and car purchasing process Purchasing Purchasing is the formal process of buying goods and services.

The process usually starts with a 'Demand' or requirements
. Features will include needs analysis, model comparison between different trim levels and makes, automobile configuration and pricing. Visitors to Group 1's site will be able to search for cars that meet their specific needs, compare models side by side and then build virtual cars -- complete with the correct colors, packages, options, and prices.

Earlier this year, Group 1 announced the rollout of its second-generation eCommerce marketing program, which the Select-A-Car system will continue to advance. Combining Select-A-Car's state of the art technology with Group 1's strong regional platform dealership network will enable Group 1 and its dealers to decrease sales costs and provide additional value to its customers.
