Auto Club Media Advisory: Drunk in the Stadium Parking Lot? Not Really, but You'll Be Acting Like It!
WHO: The Auto Club and the California Highway Patrol will be
releasing new crash statistics and analysis showing that Fourth
of July is one of the most dangerous holidays for drinking and
driving.
WHAT: In addition to statistics on alcohol-related crashes, reporters
will get the chance to immediately experience the dangers of
drunk driving with the assistance of the Auto Club Driving
School and "fatal vision" goggles from the CHP.
Fatal vision goggles simulate the visual effects of
drunkenness, and reporters will be able to take a field
sobriety test, play a timed coordination game, and drive a
simple road course both with and without the goggles to
demonstrate alcohol's effect on driving.
WHEN: Thursday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: Dodger Stadium Parking Lots 27 and 29 (enter at Elysian Park
Avenue)
WHY: The Auto Club and CHP hope to reduce the number of deaths and
injuries from drunk-driving crashes this year by educating the
public about the dangers of this holiday. Because July 4th
falls on a Monday this year, the Auto Club will be offering its
"Tipsy Tow" service free to all Southern California drivers
throughout this upcoming holiday weekend.
