Authority allies with MBOC.


The Brooklyn/Queens Minority Business Opportunity Committee (MBOC) and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (acronym: DASNY, IPA pronunciation: ['dæzniː]; also frequently referred to as just "Dormitory Authority") provides construction, financing, and allied services which serve  have signed a memorandum of understanding A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a legal document describing a bilateral or multilateral agreement between parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action and may not imply a legal commitment. , establishing a strategic alliance between the agencies to increase participation of minority and women-owned business enterprises on contracts funded by the Dormitory Authority.

Emory Jackson, director of the Dormitory Authority's office of opportunity programs added, "Establishing this relationship with MBOC will help us link with many private sector resources within the New York City New York City: see New York, city.

As part of the memorandum of understanding, the Dormitory Authority provided MBOC with a small grant to develop comprehensive outreach Outreach is an effort by an organization or group to connect its ideas or practices to the efforts of other organizations, groups, specific audiences or the general public.  and technical assistance programs to inform minority and women-owned businesses on current and proposed contract opportunities.

The organization will also send the Brooklyn office project plans and specifications that MBOC clients will be able to examine to the Brooklyn Entrepreneur Support and Training Center (the BEST Center), which was created by BEDC and is located in BEDC and MBOC's office suite at 175 Remsen St. in Brooklyn.
