Author misses out.North-east author David Almond last night missed out on winning the prestigious Whitbread Book of The Year award. The award was won by Mark Haddon for his novel The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time, a tale of a 15-year-old-boy with Asperger's syndrome As·per·ger's syndrome n.
