Authentify Expert Available to Discuss ATM Banking Fraud and Weakness of PIN/Password Security; Password Security No Longer Protects Accounts from the Wrong People Armed with the Right Information.Authentify:
WHO: Andrew R. Rolfe, Vice President, Research & Development,
Authentify
Mr. Rolfe is an expert in authentication and
identity verification systems. Prior to joining Authentify,
Mr. Rolfe was a Senior Vice President at Bank of America,
where he was in charge of the architecture for the first
Internet financial product for the Bank's largest commercial
customers. He has held key technical and management positions
at AT&T Bell Laboratories, and was a key member of Internet
document management and delivery pioneers Odesta Systems
Corporation and NetDox.
WHAT: Last week news broke that criminals had stolen bank
account data from a third-party company, and then used the
data to steal money from related PIN protected accounts. On
the heels of that news, a number of large and small banks,
including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual and
Citibank, have reissued debit cards after detecting fraudulent
activity. According to Gartner analyst Avivah Litan, "This is
the absolute worst hack that has happened, the biggest scam to
date."
Authentify's Mr. Rolfe can discuss how this and similar
incidents demonstrate the need for a layered approach to
protecting sensitive transactions that goes beyond PIN
security. Mr. Rolfe can explain the need and application
scenarios for 2-factor out-of-band authentication systems that
require account holders to confirm their identity and
participation in a transaction through a separate
communication channel like an automated phone call.
WHERE: Via phone
WHEN: Mr. Rolfe is available for interviews immediately
HOW: Please contact Mr. Rolfe via Marc Gendron at 781-237-0341 or
