Three health insurance companies opt for signatures in the scanning

and use solutions of the AuthentiDate - IS KV master agreement

AuthentiDate International, AG, a subsidiary of AuthentiDate Holding Corp. (NASDAQ:ADAT) announced that three German health insurance companies (BKK Bosch, BKK Hochst, BKK R+V) are deploying the scan signature solution from OCR and AuthentiDate for recording incoming documents. The three health insurance companies are obtaining the solution pursuant to the master agreement that AuthentiDate had entered into with IS KV and leading scanning software providers, including OCR in June 2003.

Customers that procure the AuthentiDate scan signature solution through the master agreement pay a yearly flat rate for the service based upon the size of the health insurance company (i.e. the number of members) and includes all transactions generated by the signature solution.

Pursuant to the master agreement, the AuthentiDate signature technology is automatically available to the health insurance companies as part of the OCR scanning software. Under the German Signature law, compulsory health insurance companies are obligated to scan documents exclusively using qualified personal signatures by no later than August 2004 if the original documents are being destroyed. Due to the multitude of documents, an automated process is necessary, which is easily enabled by the AuthentiDate scan signature technology.

For those documents that are scanned without qualified personal signatures, the law mandates that starting in August 2004 the paper documents must also be stored for a prescribed period of time. For many health insurance funds, this would mean a step backwards and additional costs. Using the signature solution, it is possible to generate legally valid data and reduce storage costs. In the context of their strained financial situation, this represents a significant advantage for the health insurance funds.

The AuthentiDate scan signature solution is already being successfully used by other companies such as the Kaufmannische Krankenkasse (KKH).

The partners of the master agreement, Frank Krause (Managing Director, IS KV), Roland Krell (Managing Director, OCR) and Marc T. Willems (Member of the Board, AuthentiDate International AG), agree that the participation of the three health insurance companies (BKK Bosch, BBK Hochst and BKK R+V) not only strengthens the master agreement but could also become the standard for the implementation of these regulations in the future.

In addition to signature solutions for the scanning process, IS KV also offers its customers a variety of other AuthentiDate signature modules that can be employed according to the needs of the health insurance companies. These modules have already been linked with the base system at IS KV through standard interfaces and are immediately ready for use by the customers of IS KV.
