DocSTAR, a division of AuthentiDate Holding Corporation (NASDAQ/NM: ADAT), today announced an entirely new generation of electronic filing systems that offer a broad choice in how they store, manage and retrieve documents. The new DocSTAR(TM) Series 3 family preserves the product line's industry-leading ease-of-use through new system software that retains the prior version's intuitive "look and feel."

The new family of systems also brings a new, more open product configuration approach where authorized resellers can integrate a wide range of scanners and monitors. The new line includes four versions with PC hardware and operating systems designed to support varying numbers of simultaneous users and monthly page volumes.

Expanded Choice of Filing Methods

The DocSTAR Series 3 family includes the latest generation of DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.0, which incorporates several new features that permit documents to be filed, retrieved and viewed easily from any PC.

Users now can create electronic file folders and store documents in a structure that directly emulates paper-based processes. Manually or through optical character recognition (OCR) technology, the software can file documents in appropriate folders.

Further, organizations can customize the way that they index and file documents by adding special fields, such as invoice number or vendor name, to the DocSTAR system's document repository database. These new filing capabilities augment the DocSTAR family's current method, whereby users scan documents without indexing or specifying folders, and then employ the system's full-text search capabilities to generate a list of relevant documents.

Expanded Control, Convenience

Beyond filing, DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.0 expands the amount of control that organizations have over their documents. To facilitate rapid, highly productive communication, documents can be distributed by e-mail as well as fax, a capability that can streamline work processes and increase responsiveness.

In addition, a new "Audit Trail" capability provides detailed information about who created, viewed, modified and annotated documents, and when, including date and time. This feature augments the company's patent-pending AuthentiDate(TM) image marking technology to help ensure the integrity and security of organizations' knowledge assets.

The software also delivers new viewing flexibility and convenience. Multiple documents can be displayed simultaneously, permitting workers to compare different documents - or pages within a single document - side-by-side on the screen.

Four System Versions to Support All Work Environments

DocSTAR Series 3 is available in four versions - the Workgroup, Workgroup Pro, Departmental and Enterprise Editions - to support a wide array of simultaneous users and page volumes. The four offerings can handle from 10 up to 100 simultaneous users and monthly page volumes ranging from 25,000 to 200,000. Each system includes a powerful PC with a 4.7-GB DVD-RAM drive, SCSI interface and Network Interface Card (NIC). Each runs a version of the reliable and scaleable Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 operating system best suited to handle anticipated user demand.

In addition, the Workgroup, Pro, Departmental and Enterprise Editions offer DocSTAR's exclusive Two-Tier Storage, which uses RAID technology, to provide fast access and the highest level of protection against document loss. The top-of-the-line Enterprise Edition runs Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 software to provide the highest reliability and speed in handling large numbers of simultaneous users.
