ROME & MELBOURNE, Fla. -- AuthenTec, the world leader in fingerprint sensor innovation and sales for more than five years, will explain the benefits of biometric security to protect data and prevent identity theft on November 4th at ID WORLD International Congress in Rome, Italy. The presentation will be held at the Aurelia Convention Centre & Expo at 11:00 a.m.

AuthenTec sensors are used in more than 5 million devices worldwide -- combining security with a broad range of features and functions that are controlled at the simple touch or swipe of a finger. In security, the sensor can replace passwords and authenticate the user or can be used as a secondary level in addition to the password (two-factor authentication The use of two independent mechanisms for authentication; for example, requiring a smart card and a password. The combination is less likely to allow abuse than either component alone. See authentication. ) -- protecting both the stored information and the physical device.
