AuthenTec Sensor Adds Important Layer of Security to New ASUS Entertainment Notebooks, Which Offer Unprecedented Storage Capacity

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- AuthenTec (NASDAQ: AUTH) - the world's leading provider of fingerprint sensors and solutions - announced that its fingerprint sensors are now a standard feature in the world's first notebooks to offer one Terabyte (1 trillion bytes) of disk storage capacity, ASUS' new M50 and M70 PCs. These entertainment-oriented notebooks have enough disk capacity to store up to 1,000 hours of video, 350 feature-length movies, or 250,000 four-minute songs - underscoring the need for the enhanced security offered by AuthenTec's award-winning products.

Both new ASUS notebooks feature a high-definition 17-inch WUXGA display, a Hitachi Travelstar 5K500 hard drive, a high-capacity dedicated graphics engine and ASUS' Security Protect Manager (ASPM) feature to enhance PC and user security. ASPM allows ASUS notebooks to run applications securely and to make transactions and communications more trustworthy. AuthenTec's fingerprint authentication is a key component of end-to-end security for ASPM. Instead of using a password to access ASPM, the user may simply swipe their finger across the AuthenTec fingerprint sensor to ensure secure yet convenient access to their laptop, its stored files and even entertainment web sites. All AuthenTec fingerprint sensors are based on the Company's patented TruePrint[R] technology which reads below the surface of the skin to the live layer where the true fingerprint resides.
