Men from 10 Pacific countries met in Fiji for an intensive workshop on the theme 'Men as Partners' to share ideas on programmes for men and to lay the foundation for a Men's Training Manual. This report starts with the major themes of the workshop: overview of masculinity masculinity /mas·cu·lin·i·ty/ (mas?ku-lin´i-te) virility; the possession of masculine qualities.

Men's health is concerned with identifying, preventing, and treating conditions that are most common or specific to men.
, and men as decision makers. Each theme is briefly introduced, and the discussions as well as recommendations are stated. The participants are also introduced to the lessons learnt from the research and programme experiences that can help guide programme managers and policymakers in the areas of 1) Reaching male audiences with appropriate messages; 2) Using communication to promote behaviour change; and 3) Offering information and services that men want. This is followed by six country reports that were presented on Australia, Fiji, New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. , Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. Different approaches to the specific needs of men regarding health promotion, health education and clinical services were discussed, such as peer education, community education, church groups, targeting specific groups, and education for decision makers and gatekeepers. The participants also developed plans of action for each country where they included: Proposed tasks and activities to be carried out in the short and long term, or for particular funding periods; and Identified priorities, target groups, potential partners and possible constraints CONSTRAINTS - A language for solving constraints using value inference.
